A Clinical Analysis of Ectopic Pregnancy


Abstract
This study was undertaken for the clinical evaluation and statistical analysis on the 269 patients with ectopic pregnancy who has been admitted and treated at the Seoul Red Cross Hospital from Jan. 1, 1988 to Dec. 31, 1992.
Ther results were obtained as followa.
1) Hospital incidence of ectopic pregnancy was l in 16 deliveries (269/4lll).
2)Ectopic pregnancy was found to occur most frequently in the age group, ranging from 30 to 34 years(32.0%).
3) Nullipara was 31.2% and woman who had experienced artifical abortion was 37.2%.
4) Mean hemoglobin level was 9.9g/dl,
5) Initial systolic blood pressure rise above 100 mmHg was in 79.6%.
6) Total amount of intraperitoneal hemorrhage was between 500~1000 ml was in 22.7%, above the 1000 ml was 65.9%, and less the 500 ml was 11.6%.
7) Ectopic pregnancy was implanted in fallopian tube 96.3%, ovary in 2.2%, cervix in 1.5% and abdomen in 0%.
8) The combined pelvic disorders found during operation were pelvic inflammatory disease in 24.9%, ovarian cyst in 11.9% and contralateral tubal obstruction in 11.9%.
9) In past history, the laparoscopic tubal ligation was in 15.6%, repeat ectopic pregnanacy was in 7.8% and appendectomy was in 5.2%.
10) Culdocentesis was positive in 87.0%, negative in 13.0%, and Gravindex test was positive in 68.4%.
11) 82.2% of total casese was treated by salpingectomy, 14.9% by TAH with salpingectomy and 13.0% by salpingoophrectomy.
12) Of 269 total cases, no death occured.
